A leading European specialist delivering turnkey hyperscale data centre campuses is currently seeking an experienced EHS Lead to join a flagship project in Milan.
This organisation is recognised as one of the most trusted delivery partners in the mission-critical construction space, managing major data centre builds across multiple European countries, with over 500MW of live capacity currently under construction.
As EHS Lead, you will take ownership of the Environmental, Health & Safety strategy on site, ensuring all works are executed in full compliance with legislation, client standards, and internal safety systems. You will play a key leadership role in driving a proactive safety-first culture across all contractors, trades, and disciplines.
This is a highly visible position within the project leadership team, offering long-term progression and exposure to some of Europe’s most technically complex construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of the project Environmental, Health & Safety management systems
Ensure full compliance with local legislation, best practice standards, and site safety plans
Support the development and review of RAMS, permits to work, safe plans of action, and risk assessments
Drive consistent application of good safety practices across CSA, MEP, commissioning, and logistics teams
Provide leadership and direction to the wider EHS team where required
Promote a strong, embedded safety culture across all levels of the project workforce
Act as the main point of contact for client-facing safety engagement, ensuring prompt follow-up on observations
Deliver safety briefings, workshops, and awareness sessions to improve behavioural safety standards
Manage hazardous substance controls, including REACH assessments and reporting to senior leadership
Ensure all safety interventions, audits, and corrective actions are tracked, closed, and documented
Carry out routine site inspections and formal audits, maintaining continuous improvement standards
Skills & Qualifications
Recognised qualification in Environmental Health & Safety or related discipline
Strong experience leading EHS delivery on large-scale construction projects
Data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or mission-critical project experience highly advantageous
Proven ability to manage safety teams and influence multi-contractor environments
Strong knowledge of current EHS legislation, compliance requirements, and best practice frameworks
Confident communicator with strong leadership presence and organisational capability
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Proactive, detail-focused, and solutions-driven approach to safety management
Ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively with project and client teams
